Comfort Dawodu, Ophthalmic Research Nurse

Comfort launched her career within the OUHFT immediately after graduating from University of Bedfordshire in 2015 where she received a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing. She started in specialist surgery as a rotational Nurse and had the opportunity to work within different specialist areas such as Maxillofacial surgery, Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Vascular Surgery and Head and neck surgery.

Her passion for Education and Teaching led her to take on the role of Clinical Practice Educator in Specialist Surgery Inpatient ward between 2017-2018 where she mentored students and new starters and also helped with planning and delivering of in-house training. This experience helped broaden her scope of practice and allowed her to gain many specialist skills which are not only useful within the division but transferable in other areas across the OUH trust.

She developed a special interest in Ophthalmology whilst in Specialist surgery and completed a PGCert in Advance person-centred ophthalmic care in 2018. Following this, she joined the Oxford Eye Hospital in March 2019 where she spent half of her time in ERGO and the other half in outpatients and Eye Emergency Department as an ophthalmology specialist Nurse. In November 2019, Comfort became full-time staff member in ERGO as she enjoys being a part of the team and aspires to advance. As a result, she has signed up for MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice commencing in January 2021.
